This piece I worked on in a small production group during my A Level journey. From beginning to end, we storyboarded our ideas, wrote a script and shot and recorded it together in a short amount of weeks.
It is essentially a short film, of which the brief told us the genre had to be 'Film Noir'. After studying many films in this genre, we created 'Siren'. The name deriving from a mythological 'beast' so to speak, a female of the ocean, who lured men to their deaths using their voice.
This piece represents many conventions of a Film Noir genre, including the detective setting, gangs or groups of dangerous people, a seductive woman, a man on a wild goose chase, smoking, greyscale filming style, red and black connotations of colour and many more.
